We had to leave Kampot at some time and after a week of doing very little we grudgingly hired a taxi to take us to Phnom Penh. Our previous experiences of the city had been just bus stations, which are not always the nicest of places (e.g. Perth, Scotland), but the little we have seen of the rest of the city has been great.

I arrived here yesterday around noon. The highway from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh has greatly improved in the last 2 years. Previously, the bus trip had taken 8-10 hours. Now it takes 5 hours, including a stop in Kompong Thom for lunch. ...
