On the airplane!
Apr 8, 2008

On airplane, preparing for our trip to Paris!! We are tired from NYC, so hopefully we will sleep. We land in Paris at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, I think the flight itself is 7.5 hours. New York was good but we tried to keep it more relaxing than previous trips... less sightseeing and earlier to bed. We did enjoy seeing Sara!! My conference was good as ...

The Show Must Go On...
Mar 29, 2008 (11 photos)

Saturday in New York City with my two girls, it doesn't get any better than this. While Amber and Anil joined the line for 1/2 price tickets for a show, Heather and I went for a coffee run across the street. Lucky for us the box office had its temporary location right next to our hotel, so we didn't have far to go. The girls waited it out while ...

Surviving the Airport Ride
Mar 27, 2008

I never thought the excitement would begin before we even get to the hotel. Riding in the airport shuttle has resulted in at least 10 more gray hairs. We did survive the ride, but I am not sure all the pedestrians did. When we arrived at our destination, we were dropped off at the fabulous Marquis Mariott right in the heart of Times Square. A 30...

New York

I flew on an extremely delayed JetBlue flight. I sat at RDU for 6 hours. Whats worse is that Kelly was flying on a different flight out of Nashville. She was had to sit at JFK waiting on me! After the ordeal was over Jet Blue gave everyone on the flight a $50 off the next JetBlue ticket. So I guess Jet Blue thinks my time is only worth $8 an hou...

New York
Jun 20, 1999

We flew up to New York for a long weekend to explore the city. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis at Times Square, which was awesome. We mainly roamed around the city, visiting Times Square, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty (which we got to climb), the Empire State Building, and the World Trade Center. We saw two Broadway Plays, Phantom of ...

Central Park (US&C)
Jul 29, 1992

I'm afraid I don't have clear memories about Central Park, except that I think I was afraid of muggers. LOL :/ We did take a carriage ride around the park though, and it was beautiful.

Historic Downtown New York (World/US&C)
Jul 29, 1992

I'm not quite sure why the author listed "Historic Downtown" separately from "New York City", but whatever. [shrug] She mentions Wall Street and the Financial District which we walked around. This was a special interest for DH. It was fun to see though. She also mentions the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) which we were able to view many times ...

Wall St, Macy's, Broadway
Jul 29, 1992 (2 photos)

Today we walked all over--from Wall Street to Seaport. Had lunch at The Fulton Street Cafe. Went shopping at the biggest Macy's I've ever seen. Took a buggy ride in Central Park, very romantic. :) Had dinner at the hotel...The View at the top of the Marriott Marquis, a revolving restaurant with an incredible view. I remember eating some really g...

Seeing the sights in NYC
Jul 28, 1992 (7 photos)

Went on the Circle Line tour around Manhattan. It was great...loved seeing the Statue of Liberty, the Twin Towers, the whole island was amazing with its towering skyscrapers. It gave a really nice overview of the Big Apple. One thing I remember vividly though was that a little piece of metal fell off one of the bridges as we were passing under i...

Excellent location, good service

from happy_traveller on 2003-08-05
We found this hotel to be clean and well furnished. The staff were all extremelly pleasant and the food was good. The glass elevators are an experience in themselves - if you like rollercoasters, you'll love them - otherwise they can be a bit scary.

Beware the Elevators!

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-07-22
Recently returned from NYC where we stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. They are in the process of "upgrading" their elevators and the wait time is anywhere between 20-40 MINUTES to get from your room down to the ground floor or lobby on the 8th floor. We spent hours just going back and forth. I'd stay away until they complete the project.

The Best ever!

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-07-22
The most wonderfull experience I have ever had in New York City. The Hotel is big and surprisingly spotless (even under renovation). The room was large and recently redecorated. The rest's were all great, particularly The View upstairs...it rotates for an unbelievable view of NYC. If you go to their website , like I did, you can get a $25 saving certificate good on any room. I highly recommend it to anyone in New York. They know how to take care of their guests.

Elevator Hell

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-07-14
The are currently remodeling the elevators in the building (which will take about 6-9 months) and they have not prepared for the situation.

Everytime we needed an elevator we waited at least 20 minutes. We even took the service elevator with a bellman who felt sorry for us. Other than that the stay was ok. The View restaurant is remarkable and the food was great. The staff was very friendly but the rooms were not impressive. I don't think I would stay there again but I would definitely eat at the View again.

Stay in floors 10-20!

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-06-07
shopped for 2 months on the internet for the best deal and this hotel is it. got a last minute deal for a standard room at $145. floors 10-20 newly renovated, must stay there. direct views of time square add $50/night.(not worth it, get partial view if possible for standard room price) concierge, front desk, maid staff, etc top notch. you cannot stay in a more central location. problem getting elevator only at 10:30pm after Broadway shows let out........to be expected. they do have a lot of banquets, conventions, etc that make it noisy but the rooms are very roomy and clean. i've looked at over 100 hotels and i rank this and belvedere right up there as the best values around. we stayed 7 nights and will stay again every year.15 minutes from LaGuardia, feet from Broadway, and just a few blocks from Rockefellar Center. they even upgraded me to a king after the first night when it became available.....their suggestion. you can get these rooms for $150 easy thru discount internet sights. last minute deals seem to work great.

Great location

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-04-22
After reading pages and pages of other peoples reviews i finally decided to stay at the marriot in NewYork, times square. Had no problems with the lifts like so many other people did, its a huge hotel packed with guests so you have to expect the occasional delay. My only draw back was the room which seemed a little old looking and in need of a make over. The best thing was the location bang in the middle of time square. Had a great time and would definetly go back

Loved the Marriott Marquis, New York

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-04-12
Great hotel. Recent updates. Glass elevators are a hit. The revolving restaurant on the 48th floor offers a wonderful view of the city. Only drawback is the long wait for elevators. Otherwise its a wonderful place to stay right in the heart of Time Square. I chose this hotel based on other reviews here and I'm glad I listened.

The Beauty of Times Square

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-03-24
What a great hotel! This i know probally isnt a true great hotel, but knowing its location and proximitiy to things and also the added attraction of breakfast on the Concierge was very nice! I would come back to this hotel!

Stay for the Best time in NYC!

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-02-16
Let's start with the room... We had a group of 48, so we got the geneal room. We stayed on ht e 27th floor (out of 50), and had not only a beautiful room, but very comfortable! The view was 1 of a kind, that NO other hotel or resort could have! Service... EXCELLENT! There was 5 restaurants, all GREAT service! Bellmen were on time, neer late or early! The 37 story Atrium, is the best part! Hallways in the WHOLE hotel are open, and the GLASS elavators, a HIT! The Hotel's own Broadway Theatre, showing Throughly Modern Millie, was spacious, and the show was the bestone i've ever seen!! This hotel has everything you would want in in Times Square, ~New York City~!!! Email me with questions..........
