Thanks to Diane Montgomery-Logan for sending the photos of our departure in Burlington.

It was great to stay with Friends Anne Mitchell and Gordon McClure. Anne has been active with Quakre Earthcare Witness for many years, once serving as the Canadian Yearly Meeting representative to the QEW Steering Committee. Anne and Gordon live on a quiet street in the center of Toronto, where they don't have a need of a car, use solar for hot water, and try to eat local as much as possible. They were very congenial hosts who fed us well and generally cared for us.

We had a lively gathering at the Toronto Meeting on Sunday afternoon following a delicious soup lunch. Toronto Friends generously contributed to the walk, which will help us through the rest of the stay in Canada.

Today we walked around downtown from 9:30 am to about 4:30 pm, with only short breaks for lunch and coffee, hoping to train a bit before getting on the train tomorrow morning. Toronto is a terrific city, very walkable, with an efficient public transportation, and a culturally diverse population. There seem to be more restaurants per capita here than any place we've been.

Last nightAnne and Gordon hosted a dessert gathering in their home and we enjoyed a long evening of stimulating discussions about the state of the world while enjoying various sweets and local beverages. Ruah was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of Kirsten Romain-Jones who spontaneously removed her peace-symbol earrings and gave them to her. These will be a perfect prop for our skit. Thank you Kirsten!

This morning we headed for Vancouver. We're looking forward to the three days of relaxation on the train, but will walk on the train platform at layovers to try to keep ready for next Sunday, the first day of the Peace for Earth Walk.

We hope you are all well. We learned today that our kitties are doing well, which gives us great comfort. We're having some trouble with our email accounts so are now sending the blog alerts through Travelpod.

Blessings,

Ruah and Louis
